Legal Account Specialist The candidate primarily responsible for understanding the various departments within the company and the flow of accounts serviced by the company; reviewing accounts and underlying documentation within the legal collection process to ensure the accuracy of the filings; and representing the company as a witness or corporate representative at hearings and depositions. Review documents and affidavits for correctness and accuracy by reviewing accounts and their underlying documentation prior to endorsing under oath on behalf of the company. Represent company at court hearings and depositions as a witness, or corporate representative, as deemed necessary and appropriate in consultation with handling attorney. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies across all areas of organizational responsibility to include successful completion of training and testing initially and semi-annually. Verify documentation responsive to discovery requests under the direction of handling attorney. Notarize affidavits and legal documents executed by other specialists in accordance with company policies. Maintain daily departmental calendar to ensure timely follow-up on case files and other deadlines. Maintain and update Company’s system of record with information regarding developments in litigation cases. Provide administrative support, including data entry, maintaining spreadsheets and files, typing documents, and assisting with special projects as assigned. Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties. Comprehend the general litigation process and have familiarity with pleadings and other documents involved. Participate in regular training sessions, including those with live, real-time feedback evaluation. Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in financial services or loan account servicing or documentation work experience. 1-3 years of legal collection experience required. Paralegal certification or degree or paralegal experience preferred. 1-3 years of litigation paralegal experience preferred. Should have excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have good organizational skills with high attention to detail. Should be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word), and internet. Should be proficient knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
