A law firm in Pittsburgh is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to manage cases from inception to conclusion. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, substantial experience in commercial litigation, and the ability to handle all aspects of complex litigation. This role requires excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage discovery and participate in business development activities.

Duties:

  • Manage commercial litigation cases from start to finish, including case strategy and execution.
  • Conduct factual investigations and legal research to support case development.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as research memos, motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery requests.
  • Research relevant case law, statutes, and regulations applicable to cases.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions, argue motions, and participate in hearings and trials.
  • Oversee all aspects of discovery, including e-discovery, ensuring thorough and accurate management.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of trial strategies, including the development of trial exhibits and witness preparation.
  • Contribute to business development and marketing efforts to expand client base and firm presence.
  • Interact with clients to provide legal advice, updates, and strategic counsel.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to resolve complex legal issues.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Outstanding academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically about case management and resolution.
  • Excellent written communication and drafting skills, with experience in drafting memos, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Proven legal research skills and the ability to produce concise, effective written work product.
  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in good standing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Pennsylvania Bar or eligibility to become licensed in Pennsylvania.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing complex commercial litigation cases.
  • Strong drafting and research abilities, with a focus on producing high-quality legal documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in depositions, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Expertise in managing discovery processes, including e-discovery.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients and contribute to business development efforts.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
