ProfileTrademark Paralegal The candidate will prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, including electronic filings with follow through to registration. Correspond with foreign associates, oversee processing of foreign associates' invoices for payment, and prepare reporting letters to client. Effect portfolio transfers and manage multi-client portfolios. Manage powers of attorney and letters of instruction. Post registration maintenance including Sections 15 and renewals. Assist in trademark filing strategy discussions and due diligence. Grasp chain of title in U.S. trademarks and ability to perfect same. Assist with preparation and filing of responses to Office Actions. Must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Should preferably have 3+ years of relevant work experience in a professional environment, managing intellectual property matters. Law firm experience is needed. Proficient with electronic research tools such as Dialog, Saegis, PTO and WIPO; and conduct preliminary trademark searches is needed. Familiarity with filing requirements for convention (foreign) applications is must. Extensive knowledge of U.S. trademark rules and procedure; working knowledge of national laws of other countries; knowledge of Paris Convention and deadlines set therein is essential. Highly developed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw (and Dialog) and other internet research tools is needed.
