Employment Counsel The candidate will provide day-to-day legal advice and counsel to the Human Resources team and management on a variety of employment matters. Will manage outside counsel in employment litigation and administrative agency proceedings, and provide risk assessment and strategic guidance to internal clients. Work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment laws across various state and local jurisdictions. Draft and review various employment documents, including offer letters, separation agreements, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, written warnings, employee handbooks and employment policies. Assist with employment diligence for potential business acquisitions, and support integration activities for completed acquisitions. Stay current on employment law developments and evolving best practices, and provide training and updates to the Human Resources organization as needed. Oversee immigration/work visa matters. Provide day-to-day guidance to Employment Paralegal. Must have J.D. degree with a strong academic record, and membership in good standing in at least one state Bar. Should have 5-7 years of relevant employment litigation and counseling experience. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills are required. Must have experience providing advice and counsel on the full range employment law issues. Experience with all aspects of employment litigation, including drafting pleadings, discovery (including e-discovery and depositions) and mediations/settlement conferences is required. Experience conducting workplace investigations is needed. Strong grasp of New Jersey, California, Massachussetts and/or Washington employment law preferred. Should preferably have experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, mix of large firm and in-house experience, knowledge of immigration law, experience supporting field sales personnel, knowledge of OFCCP/AAPs.
