ProfileCollections Officer - Recovery The candidate will provide timely and accurate support to Collection staff and outside legal counsel in regards to bankruptcies, small claim filings, and civil proceedings in a manner that reflects the highest standards of accuracy and confidential discretion. Will contact members to determine efficient ways of collecting monies owed on charged off accounts. Performs duties in compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act. Make collection calls on delinquent accounts to discuss recovery of the charged off amount through payment in full, payment arrangements, or possible settlements. Make decisions on accounts based on available information as to the best way to resolve the charged off debt. Provide thorough, efficient, and accurate account updates within software for actions taken on accounts. Prepare and file miscellaneous legal documents and small claims forms assuring they are accurate and meet regulatory requirements. Provide support to assigned attorneys for replevins and civil actions on approved accounts. Attend court proceedings or assist in dealings with appropriate legal representatives in order to coordinate payment arrangements. Review charged off accounts and make recommendations for collection agency assignments, filing of small claims, or civil action. Assign approved accounts to collection agencies and support agencies by providing necessary documentation and information during the collection of the debt. Monitor activity and offer recommendations for additional legal action on accounts in legal status i.e. judgments and garnishments.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have high school diploma or GED. Must have 1 year of experience as a legal administrative assistant or paralegal dealing with small claims. Should also have 1 year of experience in collections-related work. Basic knowledge with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook) required. Knowledge of bankruptcy terminology, procedure and law is needed. Should have knowledge of small claims court procedures and filing suit on delinquent accounts.
