Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Orange, CA is actively seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner to join its growing Employment Law Department. This position requires at least 8 years of expertise in handling Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, particularly in the defense of PAGA claims and class actions, with the ability to manage complex cases and provide expert legal counsel to clients.
Duties:
PAGA Litigation:
- Led and managed PAGA-related claims, including class actions and other large-scale lawsuits.
- Develop and execute comprehensive legal strategies for PAGA cases, balancing risk management and litigation costs.
- Oversee discovery processes, including gathering evidence, deposing witnesses, and preparing for hearings or trials.
Client Advisory & Compliance:
- Advise clients on compliance with California labor laws and assist in mitigating risks related to PAGA claims.
- Conduct audits and help clients develop policies around wage and hour issues, employee classification, and rest/meal break compliance.
- Stay updated on new legislation or case law affecting PAGA and guide clients accordingly.
Client Relationship & Business Development:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering ongoing legal support.
- Identify new business opportunities and help expand the firm’s presence in the PAGA sector.
- Present workshops and training sessions on PAGA compliance and litigation for clients and prospects.
Team Supervision & Mentorship:
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and staff, ensuring high-quality legal work.
- Review and approve legal documents, including motions and discovery responses, to ensure quality and compliance.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage ongoing professional development in PAGA matters.
Requirements:
- At least 8 years of experience in employment litigation, particularly with PAGA claims.
- Proven background in handling class actions and other complex employment law matters.
- Experience with public entity defense is a plus.
- Ability to develop and execute legal strategies for PAGA cases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent research, analytical, and negotiating skills.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Certifications:
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
