Corporate Paralegal The candidate will compiles and analyzes data on economic, social and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares or requisitions graphic and narrative reports on data. Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists regarding land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial and community uses. Recommends governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal. Reviews and evaluates environmental impact reports applying to specified private and public planning projects and programs. Conducts due diligence including zoning and other property level matters. Files documents with the various NYC land-use agencies and Recorder's offices. Electronically files registrations and reports in City and State lobbying databases; follows-up with required hard-copy submissions to public lobbying offices and communicates with clients and public officials regarding the same. Prepares and publicly files financing statements for corporations, general and limited partnerships and limited liability companies. Obtains good standing certificates, certified documents and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) searches from state agencies. Conducts due diligence. Prepares and maintains closing checklists for each matter. Prepares closing documents and certificates for transaction closings and coordinates execution of same. Prepares post-transaction closing binders. Tracks billable time and enters it into the DTE system. Presents information effectively to lawyers and clients and responds to questions. Resolves routine legal questions under the direction of a lawyer. Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is needed. Should have 5+ years of relevant experience required in a law firm or in city planning or a related profession required. Prior relevant experience is needed. In-depth understanding of New York City procedures to obtain permits, variances, zoning changes and other land-use related approvals are needed. Experience filing with both New York City and New York State online lobbying compliance databases are needed. Knowledge of state and local laws, regulations and ordinances pertaining to planning, development and environmental land issues are beneficial. Experience with document review, factual research and familiarity with document management software is essential. Experience with real estate closing work and pre-closing preparation is a plus. Proficiency with Word, Excel or other spreadsheet programs are essential.
