Attorney Duties: Responsible for default litigation oversight in the State of Alabama. Provides necessary legal services for assigned cases; partners closely with the Managing Paralegal to ensure effective client service for the region. Includes the establishment of priorities and objectives for state associates and team members. Provides leadership, vision and direction for legal performance. Ensures clear objectives, including short and long term priorities. Ensures legal compliance with corporate and divisional guidelines and standards and effective implementation of strategic directives. Implements compliance directives in a timely manner. Develops contacts and collaborates with Marketing to provide input and ensure appropriate outreach activities for continued business growth. Communicates regularly with Operations, Executive, Attorneys and other colleagues by providing updates, changes, statuses, issues, and developments. Immediately reports conflicts, reputational issues and potential liability matters to clients and S&E management. Keeps current on legal, regulatory and ethical developments relating to the state and escalates internally as necessary to assure compliance Case Management, Client Service and Compliance Provides litigation oversight, including new case evaluations, ongoing reviews, case assignments, internal quality audits, trial strategies and final review of all cases designated for trial. Partners with Managing Paralegal to ensure cases are managed and billed appropriately and that changes are effectively implemented. Serves as co-counsel with other legal staff and/or outside counsel on litigation. Utilizes on-line and other references to research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes and the like. Ensures coverage for attendance at hearings, settlement conferences and other appearances as necessary. Recommends and drives continuous improvement for client service. Provides internal and external training as required for effective client service and business growth. Reviews case management system reports to ensure integrity standards are achieved and upheld. Submits policy recommendations, process change suggestions and other significant changes to management as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school. Bar Admission active and in good standing in the State of Alabama. 8+ years of practice in Alabama. Must have prior experience working in default services. Ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience working for a creditor’s rights firm in the state of Alabama. Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes and court procedures. 8+ years of default experience with lenders and mortgage services. Experience in various client systems used in default services, such as LPS, Lenstar, and Vendorscape, preferred. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with Sr. Leadership. Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients. Outstanding organizational skills. Ability to handle a large volume of cases. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook and Word.
