Bilingual Staff Attorney The candidate will be providing legal assistance to unaccompanied children in detention and upon their release in state courts and immigration proceedings, Supervising caseworkers in the provision of legal assistance to the unaccompanied children, Coordinating referral internally across units or externally with other legal services providers, Performing client intake interviews, Conducting community outreach and education on issues affecting unaccompanied children, Managing a robust caseload in a fast-paced environment, Providing regular reports on cases, issue trends and statistics for grant reporting purposes, and Providing technical assistance to pro bono attorneys.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Should be licensed to practice law in Texas and is in good standing, or be eligible to take the next available Texas Bar or be able to be admitted as an out-of-state attorney. Should have proficiency in English and Spanish (speak, write, read). Immigration and Family Law experience strongly preferred. Should have experience working with low-income immigrant community preferred. Must have reliable transportation, valid Texas Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
