A law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team in Belleville, IL. The candidate will work on a wide range of litigation matters, including personal injury, product liability, commercial disputes, construction litigation, employment law, and workers' compensation. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of substantive experience in litigation, with strong research, drafting, and courtroom skills. The attorney will play a vital role in case management, discovery, and client representation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing a variety of litigation cases, including personal injury, product liability, commercial litigation, construction disputes, employment law, and workers' compensation.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on case law, statutes, and legal precedents.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Handle complex discovery processes, including drafting discovery requests, responses, and managing document reviews.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and assist with trial preparation.
  • Actively participate in motion practice and present arguments during hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to ensure cases are managed effectively and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing regular case updates and professional advice.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Illinois or Missouri (Illinois license preferred).
  • 3-7 years of substantive experience in litigation practice.
  • Strong experience in handling discovery, legal research, drafting motions, and pleadings.
  • Proven courtroom experience, including handling hearings and motion practice.

  • Ability to manage complex litigation matters, including discovery and case preparation.
  • Superior drafting skills, particularly with pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.

Certifications

  • Active Illinois Bar license required (Missouri license accepted but not required).
