Equipment Specialist - GS 7 - 9 The candidate will develop or revise equipment maintenance programs. Will use and maintain automated databases. Assist senior specialist to analyze available data to determine risks associated with establishment of alternate sources. Coordinate the assembly of technical packages in accordance with regulations for each air frame or propulsion item screened. GS-9: Must demonstrate 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment to perform technical research; 2) Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements; 3) Coordinating work and providing technical data necessary to establish deadlines; and 4) Performing technical research involving collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and developing specialized information on aviation equipment. GS-7: Must demonstrate 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying the full range of equipment standards, policies, regulation, and methods; 2) Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements; 3) Utilize automated systems and databases to perform analysis of data; and 4) Performing technical and engineering evaluations to ensure appropriate acquisition method. May substitute education for experience in the following situations if it provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work: GS-9: Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. OR Successful completion of two years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree. OR Successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled. OR A combination of education and experience described above that equates to 1 year of experience. GS-7: Successful completion of one year of graduate level education. OR Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
