Staff Insurance Defense Attorney RESPONSIBILITIES: Partners with insureds and claims litigation adjusters to deliver the best possible result in pending litigation. Provides legal advice and representation to insured persons in third party litigation matters. Independently and aggressively defend a full caseload of auto accidents from inception through trial or prior resolution. Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies. Provide effective and timely information, legal advice and other services, in a technology driven environment, to clients and claims on legal and factual issues. Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures. Responsible for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. Independently prepares and presents witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, arbitrations and mediations. Research, draft, file and argue motions and briefs in courts on behalf of clients. Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain a high level of professional expertise. Provides legal services and advice on behalf of the firm for its corporate clients. Works closely with Law Firm Operations Manager to optimize efficiencies of the firm office. Defending insureds against injury lawsuits. Responds to client's needs and assists clients by providing clear communication. Analyzes legal problems, interprets laws and regulations. Work closely with paralegals to defend insureds. Will directly manage litigation from inception to resolution, including development of case evaluation and strategy, budgeting, reporting and litigation-related counseling.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must have current active license to practice law in Texas. 2-5 years’ experience in automobile personal injury litigation. Must have verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, critical thinking skills and must be a team player with strong integrity who understands the tripartite relationship and the success of any company depends upon to sum of its parts. Ability to respond quickly to internal and external clients. Advanced knowledge of legal principles and practices related to auto-related injury, subrogation and collections under Texas law. Creative in approach to litigation defense and resolution. Is a resource for the organization on various issues. Bilingual strongly preferred.
