Paralegal and Governance Administrator (Part-time)
Responsibilities: Support General Counsel with complex transactional matters. Coordinate matters relating to board meetings; preparing materials for such meetings. Prepare and maintain minutes and governing documents, and minute books (including in electronic and hard copy). Oversee and maintain BoardEffect (the electronic board portal). Support General Counsel with the corporate liability insurance program, including data gathering and preparation of applications and renewals and implementation of insurance policies (and tracking of same); overseeing, maintaining, and obtaining certificates of insurance; etc. Support General Counsel with the intellectual property portfolio and program. Prepare and maintain corporate templates and forms. Perform legal research, analyze results for decision-making, and summarize for review. Assist with the corporate compliance and ethics program initiatives. Gain thorough knowledge of company policies, practices, and organization as related to areas of responsibility. Proof documents for formatting, spelling, and grammar. Perform routine office duties for the Office of General Counsel. All other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: College degree required; paralegal certification a plus. 5+ years’ experience supporting a corporate legal department or multiple attorneys. Licensed as a notary public, or eligible (and willing) to become licensed. Extremely proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent business writing skills. Demonstrated high proficiency in entity management systems and database creation and maintenance. Experience with legal terminology, legal procedure, filing requirements, and formats. Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail, flexibility, initiative, and strong decision making capability. Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and be able to prioritize and complete projects effectively and efficiently. A keen sense of ethics, integrity and professionalism; and a passion and commitment to the mission and value system of Altarum is essential in this role. Non-profit and/or government contracting experience is a plus. Experience with LegalFiles or a similar task tracking and electronic file storage system is preferred. Some travel will be required.
