Corporate Paralegal The candidate will support the Oportun Legal Team with a variety of corporate and litigation management activities that may include such things as: Transaction support, including financings and M&A (maintaining deal documents, coordinating due diligence, etc.). Will work on entity management and corporate governance (drafting corporate formation documents, preparing regulatory filings and assisting with shareholder requests). Response to subpoenas and outside agency requests. Legal hold processes. Assist with the preparation of Board and Committee meeting materials and minutes.Help monitor new laws and legal developments, in the employment law area in particular, to develop new or upgraded policies and procedures. Act as liaison with outside counsel to manage non-immigrant and immigrant petitions for corporate workforce. Organize and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems. Assist with review of policies and procedures and participate in business projects as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience as a corporate paralegal. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, as well as Westlaw or Lexis. Strong interpersonal skills, especially when engaging directly with senior level executives and other internal customers is essential. Paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association-approved program is preferred. Law firm and/or litigation experience is desired. Experience administering non-immigrant petitions such as H-1B, TN and F-1, as well as immigrant petitions is plus. Experience with SharePoint is desired. Having and maintaining notary credentials is ideal. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
