ProfileLegal Assistant The candidate will be responsible for processing liability claims; preparing assignment letters to outside counsel; drafting reservation of rights and denial letters as appropriate. Coordinating the annual attorney workshop; coordinating the design and production of printed materials; maintaining databases for participants, guests and presenters; preparing related correspondence; preparing related reports; processing and verifies invoices. Preparing a variety of regular and special reports. Investigating claims to identify the potential for subrogation. Communicating with a variety of sources to gather claims-related information. Contacting members to inform them of subrogation efforts. Setting up new subrogation files. Preparing restitution requests to submit to a court. Answering the telephone; provides information and assistance; refers to legal staff as needed. Maintaining department files and records. Drafting a variety of correspondence, letters and memoranda. Maintaining the law library.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have knowledge of customer service principles and practices with skill in decision making and problem solving, having skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public and the ability to develop clear and concise written reports. Efficiency in all modern office practices and procedures, personal computer, and standard office software is required (including internet applications) also, the ability to adapt to new technology quickly. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, third-party attorneys and adjusters, and the general public as required by the position.
