A law firm seeks a mid-level antitrust associate to join its team in Washington, . This role involves advising clients on compliance with antitrust regulations, managing government reviews of mergers and acquisitions, and representing clients in investigations conducted by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Department of Justice (DOJ), and state antitrust authorities. The position requires expertise in antitrust laws, investigative processes, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on navigating complex transactions and litigation.
Duties:
- Conduct due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, focusing on antitrust risks.
- Analyze transaction-related antitrust risks and guide clients through antitrust review processes.
- Draft and review legal documents related to antitrust aspects of corporate transactions.
- Handle responses to Second Requests and manage advocacy during government antitrust investigations.
- Represent clients in discussions, hearings, and negotiations with regulatory agencies.
- Prepare presentations, white papers, and other advocacy documents for use in investigations.
- Provide counsel on antitrust compliance and strategies to minimize legal risk.
- Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development.
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of relevant experience advising corporate clients on antitrust laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with pre-merger due diligence and antitrust risk assessments.
- Knowledge of Second Request compliance and experience defending corporate clients in FTC, DOJ, and state investigations.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills for client interaction.
- Bar admission in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience:
- A combination of law firm and government agency experience, particularly at the FTC or DOJ Antitrust Division.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active license to practice law in the District of Columbia.
