Patent Paralegal The candidate will lead the operation and management of an IP docketing and annuity payment system (patent and trademarks). Will maintain day-to-day responsibility for all IP correspondence intake, file management, deadline management, docketing/de-docketing. Prepare docket reports on a recurring basis and timely notify appropriate IP professionals of impending due dates. Directly instruct service provider to pay/not pay patent and trademark annuities. Support the Legal IP Group and/or outside counsel in the acquisition and completion of administrative patent and trademark prosecution documentation (PoA, Invention Disclosures, Declarations, IDS, etc.). Directly file patent and trademark correspondence with the USPTO. Manage USPTO deposit account and customer numbers. Provide administrative support in support of ad hoc projects. Must have Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificatt. Should have 5 years of patent paralegal experience at a highly regarded law firm and/or corporate law department; experience in biotech/pharma industry is preferred. First-hand experience with and demonstrated knowledge of a major IP docketing system; demonstrated experience with docket system development and/or docket transfers of significant size is highly desired. Should have current knowledge of procedural requirements for patent filings with the USPTO and PCT practice. Must have first-hand, frequent experience with electronic filings at USPTO (PAIR). Should have worked with and maintained records on CPi. Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Should have in-depth computer proficiency skills in MS Office suite.
