Job Overview:
A law firm is currently seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in Patent Prosecution and Litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team handling complex intellectual property matters, with a focus on either Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and a proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

Duties:

• Manage patent prosecution and litigation matters, including drafting patent applications, responses, and related documents.
• Provide legal counsel on IP strategies and portfolio management for clients.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and clients to develop comprehensive patent strategies.
• Represent clients in patent disputes and litigation, including drafting legal briefs, and motions, and appearing in court.
• Research and analyze patent law, case law, and technological developments relevant to client matters.
• Ensure all filings with the USPTO and other agencies are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements:

• Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including application drafting.
• Must be registered with the USPTO.
• Admission to the NC Bar.
• Strong technical background, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (., Physics, Mathematics).
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Solid organizational and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of other forms of intellectual property law is a plus.

Education:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical field (., Physics, Mathematics).

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration is required.
• NC Bar Admission.

Skills:

• Strong proficiency in patent prosecution and litigation procedures.
• In-depth knowledge of patent law and related legal concepts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong research, analytical, and organizational abilities.
