Acker Wines, the world’s leading fine & rare wine auction house, is looking for a legal support person to support the General Counsel and Chief Executive Officer focusing on  transactional, corporate and claims matters.  

This position is currently remote.  We are monitoring COVID-19 and will determine when it is safe to return to our Manhattan headquarters, where this position will be based.


  • Assist the General Counsel with drafting and revising contracts and other legal documents related to consignments of wine for sale at auction, vendor arrangements and independent contractors.
  • Organize corporate books and records. Keep corporate books and records updated and share documents as needed with other employees and outside counsel.
  • Assist claims matters including assisting with processing of third-party subpoenas and other information requests and performing legal research and fact-finding.
  • Perform a variety of support and clerical tasks that further the Company’s ability to provide timely response to client needs.
  • Schedule and organize meetings, travel, and activities for all Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel.
  • Acts as liaison with other Company employees and outside agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients while maintaining high levels of customer service and confidentiality, as well as ability to prioritize and work with multiple clients.
  • File correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
  • Facilitate day to day processes.
  • Organize, code and arrange for payment of bills from outside counsel and other vendors.
  • Prepare and track expense reports and provide general administrative support including word processing, proofreading, filing, faxing and distributions.
  • Answer non-routine correspondence.


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Highly organized, motivated and proactive administrator
  • High degree of discretion, diligent and dependable character with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail is a priority and follow-through
  • Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently meet constant deadlines while maintaining a professional manner
  • Ability to interact calmly, patiently, and professionally in challenging situations
  • Excellent phone manner and with a client service centric mindset
  • Computer efficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel
