A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team in San Diego. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a junior- to mid-level attorney to take ownership of cases in a wide range of labor and employment law matters. The firm is looking for a candidate with strong litigation experience and a desire to handle cases involving claims such as harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, while also offering the possibility of transitioning into more general commercial and civil litigation.

Duties

  • Manage and take ownership of labor and employment cases, handling all stages of litigation.
  • Represent clients in employment-related disputes, including harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims.
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, and arbitrations, with an emphasis on trial preparation.
  • Draft, research, and argue motions in court.
  • Perform detailed investigations and analyses of complex facts related to cases.
  • Work with minimal oversight while collaborating with a team when necessary.
  • Represent clients in both individual and commercial matters, with a focus on the California labor and employment landscape.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 3 to 4 years of litigation experience, with a focus on employment law matters.
    • Strong skills in handling plaintiff actions involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and related issues.
    • Experience in general commercial and civil litigation is beneficial, particularly for candidates interested in transitioning into employment law.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent litigation skills, with an ability to manage complex cases and take cases to trial.
    • Expertise in conducting depositions, and experience with mediation and arbitration.
    • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
    • Proven ability to take ownership of cases with minimal supervision and drive results.
  • Licensing:
    • Admission to and good standing with the California Bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials are required.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California Bar.

Skills

  • Expertise in labor and employment law, particularly in California.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for litigation and client representation.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex case facts and legal issues.
