Healthcare Counsel The candidate will support a business unit of company focused on supporting manufacturer-sponsored brand-support programs that promote better health through improved access to specialized pharmaceutical therapies. Responsibilities include: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, amendments and related documents; interacting with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, IT, and account management functions and representing their needs and concerns when negotiating with the legal and contracting functions of clients and vendors, all with minimal oversight from supervising attorney. Manage a diverse scope of contracting issues, requiring identification and evaluation of many business and legal issues simultaneously.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Should be admitted to Arizona Bar or immediately eligible for either in-house counsel registration or admission on motion in accordance with Arizona rules. Must have 6+ years of active legal practice in law firm or in-house environment. Should have significant experience personally reviewing, revising, drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts. Should preferably have experience with emphasis on healthcare transactional and regulatory matters (in-house experience preferred). Experience managing high-stakes negotiations and compromises with other sophisticated attorneys, within established guidelines and with minimal oversight from supervising attorney is required. Experience with regulatory issue spotting, research, analysis, and risk mitigation in a highly regulated healthcare environment is needed. Should have a strong background knowledge of healthcare industry regulation, including information privacy and security laws and federal and state anti-kickback laws. Healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences experience is strongly preferred. Exceptional comfort with and mastery of modern office technology, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) SharePoint, OneDrive, web-based applications such as WebEx, remote access systems, contract- and document-management systems such as NetDocs or SalesForce are helpful.
