Paralegal The candidate will report to: Managing Attorney. Will be responsible for case management, records review, trial preparation, and any other tasks in support of the American Integrity Litigation Department. The Paralegal will prepare trial binders, deposition indexes, exhibit and witness lists, jury instructions, motions in limine and other pre-trial documents. He or she will also draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings and other documents as assigned. The Paralegal will be an integral part of the Litigation team, assisting in discovery, trial preparation and strategy development. He or she will also assist attorneys with the examination under oath process, helping the attorney to prepare, handling logistics, and drafting correspondence to policyholders and attorneys. Assists attorneys in discovery and pre-trial matters under attorney supervision. Assists attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering other legal services under attorney supervision. Assists attorneys in discovery, pre-trial matters and/or trial preparation. Drafts pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings, and other documents as assigned. Assists in trial preparation and strategy development. Handles scheduling and support of up to three attorneys in busy litigation office. Summarizes and organizes file materials. Performs legal research.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, Insurance, or related field required. Florida Registered Paralegal certification is preferred. Should have 3+ years’ experience as a paralegal within the Florida state court system, preferably in insurance defense. Familiarity with tools used by remote employees is essential. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Westlaw and electronic filing of legal document is essential. Excellent leadership and visionary skill is essential. Excellent organization and planning skill is essential. Strong interpersonal skill is essential. Superior verbal and written communication skill is essential. Thorough knowledge of Florida property insurance legal issues and landscape is essential.
