Job Title: Property Casualty / 1st Party Property Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Metairie, LA, is currently seeking an experienced Property Casualty and 1st Party Property Attorney to join its growing team. This full-time position offers a flexible 90% remote work environment with the opportunity to manage cases in both state and federal courts. Duties:

  • Represent clients in property-casualty and 1st party property litigation cases.
  • Manage cases from inception to resolution, including pre-trial and trial preparation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and legal team members.
  • Conduct depositions, discovery, and legal research.
  • Draft petitions, motions, complaints, and other legal documents with minimal supervision.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and handle all aspects of litigation.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop legal strategies.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to the firm’s growth.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Property Casualty, 1st Party Property, or Civil Litigation.
  • Strong experience managing cases in state and federal courts.
  • Ability to handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Florida; additional state bar memberships are a plus.
  • Experience in business development is a bonus but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar (Florida required, other states preferred).

Skills:

  • Property-casualty litigation experience.
  • 1st party property claim expertise.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Trial experience, with a preference for those comfortable managing a full caseload.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and legal writing abilities.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment and manage cases independently.

  • Metairie, LA (90% remote work, 10% on-site)
