Compliance Paralegal and Complaint Coordinator The candidate will assists Claims Attorneys with evaluation, monitoring, and resolution of high exposure, complex liability claims. Will contribute to the development and monitoring of policy wording and marketing content. Provide paralegal assistance including the preparation of summaries for reporting purposes. Assist in the analysis of coverage issues, conducting of investigations, and the evaluation of liability. Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents including endorsements and policy forms. Maintain claim files - both physical and electronic. Update files as needed. Maintain and monitor trial and mediation logs, Panel Counsel Lists and all reserve activity. Conduct legal research and other miscellaneous legal matters. Collect and review information and supporting documentation related to complaints received for all TMHCC MIS lines of business. Collect and review information and supporting documentation related to attorney-submitted appeals received for all MIS lines of business. Assist the legal and compliance teams with drafting and reviewing responses to complaints and appeals on a timely basis. Maintain a complete and accurate list of received complaints and appeals, including both active ongoing cases and well as cases which have been closed. Track active complaints and appeals to ensure responses are submitted on a timely basis. Prepare reports for management on a regular basis identifying key metrics, statistics and other relevant information regarding the status and disposition of complaints and appeals. Analyze key metrics and statistics on complaints and appeals to identify trends and identify and implement measures to make improvements. Work with the Claims department to ensure feedback is provided timely on areas where improvements can be made to reduce and/or support more complete and timely responses for complaints and appeals. Review marketing materials for accuracy and compliant language. Assist with internal and external marketing content audits. Assist in policy wording updates throughout the year, including drafting new language and applying feedback from reviewers. Participate in interdepartmental initiatives that focus on improving communication with customers. This includes website content and forms, workflows, procedure documentation, and trainings.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience. Paralegal Certification required. Must have 2+ years of relevant and progressive paralegal experience working for a law firm, in-house corporate law department and/or in insurance claims. Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy is required. Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment needed. Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) is required.
