Civil Service, Legal Assistant Duties: Provides a variety of specialized legal, technical, and administrative support services in the Sheriff's Office under general supervision. Work involves a variety of support services tasks providing timely, reliable, and accurate information; researching information, processing a variety of records, logs, court documents and other paperwork, entering, validating, and correcting information in various computer systems. Employees provide assistance to the public, law enforcement and court employees and perform various office support work in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must be a US Citizen or lawful permanent resident with the ability to read, write, and speak the English language as required by RCW 41.14.100. Must have 1- year of related college course work and 2+ years of work experience in a legal, law enforcement, or administrative support field. Experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Type 60 words per minute with 90% accuracy is essential. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are essential in handling sensitive issues including interaction with individuals who may be angry or hostile.
