Deputy General Counsel V
The candidate will work on cutting edge, high profile and complex commercial real estate and land use matters for the District. Should have Graduation with a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, including litigation, environmental law, land use, municipal law, real estate law, and employment and labor law. Must have Graduation with a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, preferably in a governmental setting and/or in the practice of specialized areas of the law such as employment and environmental law. Must have Current membership in good standing in the State Bar of California and admission to practice before State of California and federal courts. Excellent academic credentials is preferred. 5+ years of progressively increasing responsibility managing complex real estate and land use transactions from inception to completion is preferred. Experience should include drafting ground and commercial leases, as well as all lease related documents, permits, licenses, easements, and other transactional documents is preferred. Experience negotiating real estate transactions, including ground, commercial and/or industrial leases; engaging in arbitration and mediation regarding rent reviews and other lease disputes is preferred. Experience in real estate finance with projects in the Coastal Zone, including permitting and plan amendments is preferred. Experience with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is preferred. Experience representing lessors and litigating real estate and land use transactions (including the above-described transactions) is beneficial.
