Associate General Counsel III, Insurance Attorney
The candidate should have exceptional legal knowledge, judgment, work ethic and integrity, and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Familiarity with insurance and annuity products and applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including NAIC model rules, SEC rules, and FINRA rules. Familiarity with insurance agent and producer licensing requirements and rules. Provide strategic thought, legal leadership, support and advice to the Firm and its affiliates on a wide range of matters pertaining to insurance products, services and solutions. Ability to develop and implement solutions to eliminate, manage and mitigate risk to the Firm. Ability to analyze and resolve complex legal matters and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures. Ability to successfully partner with associates across the Firm in a collaborative manner to deliver results and move important work through the organization. Sound judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to convey complex issues to legal and non-legal professionals at all levels, including senior leaders. Ability to interact with sophisticated outside counsel to identify, evaluate and resolve complex legal questions and issues. Juris Doctorate required. 10+ years of progressive professional responsibility and experience in relevant practice areas; Experience working as an outside counsel representing insurance distributors or carriers, or in-house counsel for an insurance distributor or carrier preferred. Experience working with state and federal regulators preferred. Technological aptitude and ability to learn new technologies.
