Profile

Assistant General Counsel Duties: Under the general supervision of the Executive Vice President of Legal or General Counsel, responsible for advising the company on a variety of legal matters including, corporate compliance, regulatory matters, litigation, contracts and coordinating with outside counsel. Also assists in distributor compliance and ethics. Advise the company, and conduct research on, direct selling law, nutritional supplement law, trademark and patent law, general business and employment law issues. Advise the company, and conduct research on, legal and intellectual property issues in all international markets where presently does or is contemplating doing business. Maintaining s international intellectual property portfolio, as well as international subsidiary compliance and corporate governance. Maintain a close relationship between the legal department and the market expansion department, as well as the general managers and staff of each foreign market. Advise on legal issues relating to the company’s e-business, including the websites for each market, and ensure compliance with e-commerce laws and regulations. Draft, negotiate and review contracts in all aspects of the operation of the business. Respond to requests from all departments to assist with legal research, and legal advice. Assist when needed in distributor compliance and ethics, including by conducting advertising reviews of distributor created and company created materials. Assist in litigation including managing outside counsel, investigating cases to determine causes of action, reviewing pleadings and maintaining case files. Participate in government relations activities. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. Understand and adhere to all GMP policies and Procedures.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Must have a Law Degree with 7-10 years' experience and membership in the Utah Bar preferred. Ability to use computer. Prefer direct selling and/or nutritional supplement background. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all essential position duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
