Associate Attorney The candidate will maintain contact with clients, observe confidentiality of client matters, and must be team-oriented. Will involve personal responsibility for all aspects of case handling through trial, with paralegal assistance throughout discovery and trial preparation. Coordinate with clients and co-counsel during all phases of discovery; direct and manage all facets of the case from initial pleadings and discovery through trial. Organize and maintain case files; coordinate with secretaries and other staff. Provide timely and concise reporting to clients throughout discovery and investigation. Review and analyze propounded discovery and prepare or supervise discovery responses. Supervise document reviews with the legal team. Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial. Prepare and/or supervise all pleadings and court filings. Keep accurate time records electronically.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 5+ years of experience in general litigation for the defense. Familiarity with all aspects of case analysis, discovery, depositions, expert witness discovery and trial preparation is required. JD Degree is essential. Must be actively licensed and in good standing with California State Bar. Must be currently located in California. Proven record in personal injury defense is essential. Should have experience in taking and defending fact witness and expert witness depositions. Must have experience in reporting to insurance carriers.

Treat your staff with enough respect to pay them appropriately. We don't slack up on the work, so please don't slack up on the pay.

Pros : The staff and associates here are friendly and welcoming. It's a comfortable place to work and I've made a lot of friends at the firm that I expect to stay in touch with even if I should happen to leave.
Cons : The pay isn't the greatest for the type of work you do here. The work isn't the easiest for the pay, either. I feel like I would be getting a bit more at a competitive firm.
