Paralegal - Family Law
The candidate will be responsible for the following: Preparing and drafting motions, pleadings, judgments, statements, documents, and other correspondence (e.g., debt and asset lists, witness affidavits, child support worksheets, responsive pleadings, etc.). Performing basic legal research. Maintaining attorney calendars and case files. Scheduling appointments, court appearances and hearings, and mediation/depositions for multiple attorneys. Serving as a liaison between the client and attorney, conducting initial client intake interviews. Preparing trial notebooks and providing assistance in trial settings. Preparing and reviewing discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests, preparing and complying with subpoenas, scheduling and coordinating depositions state wide and nationally. Prepare and process expense reports. Handle various administrative tasks. Serving as a liaison between the attorney and office administration.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: 5-7 years of experience within a Family Law practice group. ATO experience is preferred. DPA experience is preferred. Proficient with Outlook/Word/Excel/Adobe. Able to handle a large case load. Accountable. Detail oriented. Reliable. Have excellent customer service skills. Time management. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as some overtime is necessary.

There needs to be a fair compensation for employees. Career growth and advancement are areas of focus the firm should consider to increase morale.

Pros : The firm has a balanced schedule in place for staff. The work hours are easy in terms of schedule. The kind staff is fortunate to have the ability to work from home. Employees are allowed a decent amount of vacation time.
Cons : Work hours are cut down. Compensation for staff suffers when the firm doesn't have a decent workload. The firm also lacks in areas of promotions and career advancement.
