A law firm in Detroit, MI is actively seeking an attorney with a strong background in medical malpractice and elder care litigation to advocate for individuals impacted by negligence in healthcare settings. This role emphasizes expertise over tenure, welcoming candidates with 1 to 6 years of experience who possess a keen ability to assess complex cases, craft compelling legal strategies, and deliver results-driven representation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Evaluation & Strategy Development – Conduct in-depth legal analyses of potential claims related to medical malpractice and nursing home negligence, ensuring viable cases are pursued effectively.

  • Client Advocacy – Serve as a dedicated legal representative, guiding clients through the litigation process with professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to justice.

  • Pleadings & Discovery – Draft and file complaints, motions, and legal briefs while managing all aspects of discovery, including depositions, expert witness coordination, and evidence review.

  • Courtroom Litigation – Represent clients in pre-trial proceedings, mediations, settlement discussions, and trials, advocating persuasively before judges and juries.

  • Negotiation & Resolution – Engage in settlement discussions with opposing counsel and insurance representatives to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

  • Medical & Legal Research – Analyze medical records, consult with experts, and leverage precedent to strengthen claims and trial strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience Level – Open to attorneys with 1 to 6 years of legal practice, provided they have a solid background in personal injury litigation, with a focus on medical negligence and elder care abuse cases.

  • Legal Acumen – Proficiency in civil procedure, trial advocacy, and tort law, with a strong ability to manage complex litigation from inception through resolution.

  • Persuasive Communication – Exceptional writing and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to draft compelling arguments and effectively present cases in court.

  • Client-Centered Approach – A deep sense of responsibility and compassion for clients who have suffered harm due to medical errors or neglect.

  • Case Management – Adept at handling multiple cases simultaneously, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Negotiation Skills – Experience in alternative dispute resolution and settlement negotiations is highly valued.

Education & Licensure:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan and be in good standing with the State Bar.
