Senior Policy Analyst The candidate will be a Corporate Public Affairs â€“Sr. Analyst in the Public Affairs department of Edison International (EIX)â€™s Government Affairs organization. Will fulfill a key analytical role in the development of the organizationâ€™s strategic plans, long-term corporate strategies, change management activities, and advance the companyâ€™s, legislative, and other advocacy interests. Will be able to proactively research and analyze energy policy and reconcile policy discrepancies that affect various aspects of companyâ€™s operations. Actively monitors and engages on current and proposed regulation/legislation and identifies new risks and opportunities. Guides, advises and supports senior management in the execution of a portfolio of high-priority enterprise level initiatives. Monitors and analyzes internal and external environments to evaluate feasibility of strategies, evaluate progress, and identify significant opportunities and risks. Provides summaries and reports of progress, including potential risks, misaligned activities, and recommendations. Develops briefing and background materials, talking points, and other advocacy materials for use with elected officials, legislative staff, and other stakeholder organizations. Researches, analyzes, and monitors legislation at the state and federal levels based on the companyâ€™s strategic business interests. Provides analysis and support for special projects that will require interaction with Edison executive management.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelorâ€™s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Business Administration, Communications or related field. Should have 3-5 years of experience working in government affairs and/or energy policy, legislative analysis, and supporting high profile policy briefing projects with successful results. Demonstrated experience in the development of California or Federal legislative strategies and policies is preferred. Demonstrated experience gathering documents, performing analyses, and drawing conclusions on legislative policies and regulatory issues/proceedings is desired. Demonstrated experience with broad issues management is desired. Demonstrated experience in dealing with highly sensitive, political inquires through coordination and extensive communications is preferred. Demonstrate strong organizational skills with high level of initiative and ability to effectively interface, collaborate, and partner with stakeholders, senior management, clients and team members to help drive solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in is preferred. Demonstrated experience prioritizing activities, monitoring assignments, and holding team members accountable for results is preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint. Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Must demonstrate effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation. Familiarity with GIS mapping techniques or IT programming is required.
