Litigation - General (consumer)
Custody Attorney Duties: Represent clients in collateral cases that arise in child welfare proceedings, including custody and visitation, family offense, and paternity proceedings. Will work closely with the existing custody attorney, as well as Article 10 attorneys on cases that involve these collateral issues. Will represent clients at trials when the proceedings become contested or are no longer related to the underlying abuse or neglect proceeding. In addition, the attorney will be available for consultation with staff attorneys as collateral Family Court issues arise during the pendency of clients’ Article 10 cases.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Candidates are expected to be admitted to the NYS Bar and have excellent litigation and written and oral communication skills. Should have experience in custody/visitation, family offense, and paternity cases and be interested and willing to specialize in these areas. Must feel comfortable working in a fast-paced litigation environment and being part of a team of advocates working together to best serve our clients. Expected to provide high-quality and vigorous representation at all court appearances and throughout the course of a case. Spanish speaking attorneys are strongly preferred.
