A law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to support the Firm's patent prosecution practice. This role will assist the Firm's clients protect their technology by drafting and prosecuting patent applications through the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and supporting due diligence activities. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant experience and a solid technical background in a related scientific field.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
- Manage and coordinate patent prosecution activities, including responding to office actions and communicating with patent examiners.
- Conducted patent searches and provided technical analysis to support patentability assessments.
- Assist with due diligence tasks, including analyzing patent portfolios and preparing reports.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and technical experts to develop patent strategies and address complex patent issues.
- Stay current with developments in patent law and technology trends relevant to the Firm's practice areas.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
- Must be registered to practice before the USPTO and be Patent Bar eligible.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet and manage internal and client-driven deadlines.
- Experience in managing assignments from multiple partners and clients effectively.
Education
- Master's Degree or Doctor of Philosophy (.) in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Certifications
- Registration to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office.
