Computer Scientist - GS 7 – 11 The candidate work in Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Mission Support Team, Data Analytics Team. Responsibilities: Identifying, gathering, and understanding relevant data to support analysis, as well as assess relative quality and reliability of the data Preparing data, including data cleansing, transformation, combination, and aggregation in preparation for modeling and analysis Developing models and analysis using statistical software Developing data visualizations of results for ease of use and adoption of analytics Leading regular training sessions and maintaining open office hours for teams to directly ask for software and programming language support.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have following qualifications: Basic Requirement: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess: At GS-07 Level: 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as applying data management or statistical software packages and Using operating systems such as Enterprise Linux, Windows 2012, or Windows 2016. OR Substitution Of Education For Specialized Experience: One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (SAA) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. OR Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Bachelors degree required or a senior in college can apply with certain considerations. Class standing - Must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Grade Point Average (GPA) - 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 Election to membership in specific National Scholastic Honor Societies. At the GS-09 Level applicants must minimally have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level in the federal service applying and training data management and statistical software packages and supporting operating systems such as Enterprise Linux, Windows 2012, or Windows 2016. OR Substitution of education for specialized experience: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. At the GS-11 Level must minimally have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level in the federal service applying and training others on data management and statistical software packages using theory or contextual examples from previous experience, and supporting operating systems such as Enterprise Linux, Windows 2012, or Windows 2016. OR Substitution Of Education For Specialized Experience: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).
