ProfileParalegal, Project Manager Key Responsibilities: Supporting both large employment litigation matters, such as class actions, as well as single plaintiff personal injury and employment lawsuits, arbitrations, and administrative claims. Serving as a liaison between Law Department attorneys and outside counsel in litigation matters. Drafting correspondence, motions and declarations and identifying, gathering and analyzing information and documents for discovery responses, and motions. Drafting document preservation notices and document collection memoranda. Performing factual and legal research and utilize specialized software (e.g. Westlaw, Pacer) and internal database software and tools to locate, compile and analyze information. Assisting with responses to health and safety-related issues, including policy drafting and rollout. Drafting and coordinating responses to subpoenas and governmental and administrative claims (i.e., EEOC, OSHA and Ministry of Labor) and charges. Calendaring and ensuring compliance with internal and external deadlines. Assisting with tracking legal developments and identifying issues and recommending possible solutions and courses of action to Law Department s attorneys. Drafting, reviewing and revising employment-related agreements and documents. Drafting responses to escalated customer issues. Creating, maintaining and updating information on Law Department litigation databases.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 4+ years experience in a law firm or corporate in-house counsel setting. Work experience performing legal and factual research utilizing specialized software (e.g. Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw) or the internet. Work experience using Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) & Adobe Professional. Work experience in litigation, including electronic discovery, document review and database management. Preferred Qualifications: Experience advising on labor and employment law issues. A Paralegal Certificate and/or Bachelor's degree is desired. Strong proficiency with standard office software and legal research and litigation software, such as Westlaw, Pacer and Relativity. Strong analytical/research skills, with ability to work independently and accurately manage large amounts of detailed information. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively. Experience developing and managing document review protocols and processes. Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safety reporting and material data safety sheets.
