Duties

  • Provide legal advice and representation on labor and employment issues for public agencies, including hiring, contracts, and collective bargaining.
  • Handle cases involving discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, layoffs, and employee discipline and dismissals.
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts and manage contract grievances.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategic legal solutions and ensure compliance with employment laws.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, preferably within the public sector.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with administrative hearings is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of California labor and employment laws applicable to public agencies.
