ProfileSenior Regulatory Compliance Counsel The candidate will be responsible for advising on vehicle emissions and safety regulations; and/or advising on environmental compliance (stationary source regulations), worker health and safety. Significant law firm or Federal or State regulatory agency experience is required. In-house counsel experienced is strongly preferred. Familiarity with EPA, CARB, NHTSA, OSHA, and HAZMAT regulatory schemes is strongly preferred. Must be a solution oriented team player who is very comfortable working closely with engineers in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. The role requires frequent communication with overseas clients. Advise on new and in-use vehicle emissions and on-board diagnostics regulatory compliance, including GHG, CAFE and CARB regulations. Advise on internal product quality investigations and, if warranted, on every aspect of implementing appropriate field actions, including recalls. Advise on government inquiries and investigations and help the company provide clear, robust, timely, and transparent responses to the regulators. Provide direct oversight of compliance with certain aspects of TREAD Early Warning Reporting requirements. Advise on all stationary source environmental matters [permitting, emissions (air, water, waste), spills, and reporting] for manufacturing facilities. Advise on worker health and safety including State and Federal OSHA compliance and hazardous materials compliance. Advise global research and development, total customer satisfaction, and manufacturing clients on regulatory compliance. Provide preventative education and training to global research and development, TCS, and manufacturing clients. Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, and written reports to management. Participate in global and regional initiatives as valued member of company functional teams. Make proactive contributions that maximize departmental efficiencies and simplify processes. Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: vehicle emissions and safety compliance, as well as manufacturing-related environmental regulations is essential. Should have 7+ years of legal experience, including experience in relevant practice area or equivalent. Specific experience with advising on EPA, CARB, NHTSA, OSHA, and DOT matters is strongly preferred. Advising on recalls and regulations involving consumer products is strongly preferred. Prior experience, with an Automotive OEM is preferable. Should have JD degree from ABA accredited law school; member of bar in state of practice; eligibility for admission to TN Bar.
