Counsel Duties: Assisting in counseling various Company personnel on intellectual property issues. Acting as a resource to help resolve complex intellectual property issues. Assisting in management of the Company’s worldwide patent, trademark, and copyright programs. Representing Company in intellectual property disputes and assist with IP litigation efforts. Supporting Company IP monetization efforts. Providing guidance regarding open source software and other IP-related licensing issues. Supporting M&A activity through IP due diligence and transaction document review. Retaining and managing outside counsel responsible for handling intellectual property issues and disputes. Enforcing Company’s intellectual property rights.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school (domestic) or Law degree from an accredited law school (outside the US). Bar admission in good standing in at least one state (required domestic) or admitted as an attorney/barrister/solicitor in the relevant jurisdiction and in accordance with local law (international). Business travel of 0-10 percent yearly is expected. 5 years’ experience with a law firm or corporate legal department. Prior experience working with large corporate clients preferred. Ability to draft, revise and negotiate legal documents and addenda. Working knowledge of IP and legal contract issues. Broad knowledge required in specific area of practice and/or primary emphasis. Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships across CA’s businesses. Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization. Strong drafting and negotiating skills. Strong writing, public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision or guidance. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
