ProfileFall 2018 Fellowships Fellows will sumbit proposals to provide direct legal services as well as to address systemic causes of social, racial and economic injustice for following Family and Immigration Unit engages in individual and systemic advocacy regarding intimate partner violence and sexual assault as well on a wide variety of immigration matters, including U&T nonimmigrant status, VAWA and asylum, and is seeking proposals to address the urgent needs of immigrants. Reentry Unit addresses barriers to employment for people with criminal records and seeks innovative proposals designed to address those legal barriers. Community Economic Development Unit represents community-based groups in areas such as the Community Reinvestment Act, community land trusts, tenant associations and small businesses and is seeking proposals to deepen community impact. Another potential area of impact is environmental justice issues. HIV and LGBTQ Unit seeks to work with a candidate to create a proposal that focuses specifically on housing work for communities, including advocacy and representation around barriers to and within housing, addressing eviction, discrimination, and harassment cases. Disability Unit represents clients seeking federal disability benefits and is seeking fellowship proposals addressing the language access issues of many of clients. Qualified students and recent law graduates. A demonstrated passion for social justice, and a commitment to working with low-income communities and communities of color to advance equity.
