Legal Assistant - Float Candidate will assist attorneys in a variety of practice groups including Litigation, Business, Health Care, Investment Management, Municipal/Public Finance and Real Estate/Land Use. Will be outgoing, a team player, organized and detail-oriented. Strong client service and interpersonal skills are essential. Make well-reasoned, effective decisions and manage time efficiently. Will work across multiple practice groups to help provide continual and consistent support to the firm's attorneys and clients. Duties: Preparing draft correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents; proofreading, editing and redlining documents; managing case dockets and calendars; scheduling depositions and logistics management, including booking court reporters, booking conference rooms, travel arrangements as necessary, and transcript ordering; scheduling travel, client meetings and calls.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate is helpful. 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant with 3 years of recent litigation experience; professional services experience preferred. Demonstrates legal terminology and government regulations knowledge. Thorough knowledge and familiarity with common transactional and litigation procedures, terms, and protocol (i.e. motions practice, subpoenas, discovery documents, court rules, court filings, title binders, agreements, contracts). Ability to effectively and accurately present information and respond to questions from attorneys, clients, and employees. Excellent organization skills - setting priorities, initiative, advance planning, and flexibility. Commitment to excellent customer service. Computer savvy, and proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Great for the person that wants to get away from large New York type law and move to a more hip and smaller city. Also great for anyone into tech companies and issues.

Pros : They have a large practice but it is really focused around business and commercial clients. It is a great place to break into the tech market since many of the local companies in the area are tech ones. They are really focused on that and you will meet many of those types of clients. Also with the location there is a lot of port and maritime law.
Cons : It is a very large firm and it is very Seattle centric, which can be a good thing but also can be very limiting. It is not a place to be if you desire to work in New York or Washington D.C. It also can be hard to move up.
