Paralegal Ii The candidate to support the Assistant Attorneys General in the Civil Litigation Bureau. Will perform substantive legal work and will be responsible for developing case information, evidence, and settlement options, tracking cases, and supporting attorneys’ hearing proceedings. This position will support multiple attorneys in both general civil litigation and workers’ compensation cases. Must be able to recognize, evaluate, organize, analyze, and communicate relevant facts and legal concepts. Assist with preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, draft discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and settlement agreements for attorney review. Manage and prioritize cases in a team environment by effectively establishing, organizing, tracking, and maintaining case files and records. Assist with calendaring of deadlines, monitoring of calendars, ensuring deadlines are being met, and inputting case actions and information into file database and case management software. Develop cases by corresponding and coordinating with people involved in the case, including third-party administrators and agency contacts, scheduling depositions, assisting with preparation and development of discovery requests and responses, requesting medical records, scheduling IMEs, and preparing and filing pleadings. Assist attorneys with preparing for hearings and trials by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and scheduling witnesses and court reporters. Assist with coordinating court appearances and travel. Paralegal certificate required. Certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or the American Alliance Certified Paralegal (AACP) credential offered by the American Alliance of Paralegals, Inc. is highly preferred. Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1 - 2+ years of Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience required. Must have outstanding organizational, time management, and administrative skills, pay excellent attention to detail and the have the ability to prioritize and multitask.
