Litigation - General (consumer)
3-5 yrs required
Litigation Paralegal Duties: Assist attorneys in a wide range of legal matters, preparing for depositions, hearings, trials and client meetings, and management of assigned files. Organizing and tracking case files. Locating and interviewing witnesses. Analyzing and digesting legal documents. Investigating facts. Performing legal and factual research. Assist attorneys with drafting pleadings, motions and discovery. Managing discovery. Maintains document file. Researching experts and providing documents to experts for their review. Manages court dates and pre-trial discovery deadlines and deadlines for trial. Assisting in trial preparation and at trial.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Certification by recognized paralegal association or Florida Registered Paralegal preferred. 3- 5 years minimum experience in Medical Malpractice defense. Strong time management and organizational skills. Must be able to perform work with minimal direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assigned tasks. Effectively communicates status of projects to appropriate persons in a timely manner. Exercises good judgment regarding when to ask questions and to raise issues with more senior staff. Strong understanding of the legal process with the ability to analyze and interpret legal documentation and how it relates to and affects each case. Has knowledge and comprehension in the law of the State of Florida, including State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Discovery, Rules of Evidence and commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong understanding of the litigation process with the ability to analyze and interpret legal documentation and terminology.
