Litigation - General (consumer)
Paralegal Assistant Duties: Assist attorneys in all aspects of the litigation, regulatory, and consulting process. Conduct factual and legal research as assigned by supervising attorneys. Organize and maintain paper and electronic case files and discovery material. Proofread, cite-check, and Bluebook legal memoranda. File hard copy and/or electronic submissions with courts using appropriate software. Review, code and analyze documents in databases; compile data summaries; summarize depositions. Draft correspondence, declarations, and other legal documents. Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and meetings. Uses Internet, databases, and other public sources to research companies and analyze current industry developments. Track, retrieve and/or compile appropriate laws, regulations, judicial decisions, related past cases, legal articles, and other materials as assigned. Maintain up-to-date time reports to ensure accurate client billing. Monitor and review periodicals, newspapers, trade press articles, websites, Congressional Records, etc., for current developments in the environmental field. Drafts Freedom of Information Act Requests. Assist with preparing PowerPoint presentations, including graphics. Assist with marketing and business development initiatives. Attends meetings and webinars as requested by attorneys. Indexes or enters documents into document management system as directed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Paralegal certificate a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Highly proficient in office computer programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and document management system software programs. Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent. Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Send a copy of college transcripts with a resume.
