A law firm in Oakland, CA, seeks a highly skilled Corporate/Employment Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm and will be adept at advising on various employment-related issues. This role requires exceptional legal expertise, a robust client-focused approach, and the ability to handle complex employment matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on employment-related compliance issues, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, immigration, union matters, and collective bargaining.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, and policies.
  • Advice on reductions-in-force, WARN Act compliance, and other employment-related matters.
  • Develop and review restrictive covenants, employment policies, and handbooks.
  • Conducted due diligence and handled employment-related representations and covenants in transaction documents.
  • Stay current on employment law trends and developments to provide proactive guidance.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve complex employment issues and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Extensive experience advising clients on compliance with employment-related laws, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, and immigration issues.
  • Proven experience drafting employment and separation agreements and handling reductions-in-force and WARN Act issues.
  • Experience with restrictive covenants and employment-related due diligence in transactions is a plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials with a strong record of academic achievement.
  • Superior writing and organizational skills, with a solid client-focused work ethic.
  • Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar or eligible to waive into the CA Bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Member in good standing of the California Bar or eligibility to waive into the CA Bar.
