Fall Internship Program The candidate will work for division: Public Interest Division. Will be taught a variety of interesting legal tasks such as assisting attorneys with legal research, motions, advice memos, discovery, trial, or office matters. On any given day may be researching, gathering documents, answering interrogatories, or taking notes during a witness deposition. Perhaps, may be needed to assist attorneys at trial or a hearing, and enjoy seeing first hand how to select a jury or make a dynamic opening statement. Will also participate in several field trips including a tour of the DC jail; MPD headquarters/training academy; a visit to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals to view an oral argument. Will also develop legal writing and research skills by receiving training in Lexis research, and understanding how to apply various federal, state, and common laws to cases. Develop legal writing skills by drafting motions, advice memos, mediation statements, or case briefs. Internships are open to undergraduate, graduate and law students in good academic standing.
