ProfilePart Time Attorney Conflict Public Defender The candidate will be an assistant public defender within the Conflict Defender Division. Will primarily be responsible for representing indigent clients in felony and dependent neglect matters . In addition, other case assignments will be determined by the Conflict Division Administrator or his/her designee as described in the Montana Public Defender Act. Expected to exercise their own professional judgment and provide competent indigent defense casework pursuant to the Office of the Public Defender Practice Standards. Case investigation and strategy, discovery review, motion work, plea negotiations, trial preparation and completion, and sentencing.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : The candidate should have a JD degree from an ABA accredited law school. Should preferably have experience representing clients in felony and dependent neglect cases who have a strong desire to work in indigent defense. Must be licensed to practice in Montana on date of hire.
