A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. They should possess extensive civil litigation experience, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, managing discovery, handling depositions, and representing clients in court appearances. Strong academic credentials, superior research and writing skills, and experience in business development and client management are preferred.

Duties:

• Analyze and interpret insurance policies related to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Handle complex insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance matters.
• Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery requests.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and handling discovery motions.
• Conduct depositions and represent clients in court appearances and other legal proceedings.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, managing cases independently.
• Engage in business development activities to foster client relationships and expand the firm's client base.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies and manage cases effectively.
• Stay current on industry trends and legal developments in insurance and reinsurance.

Requirements:

• 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• In-depth understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Extensive experience in drafting legal documents, managing discovery, and handling depositions and court appearances.
• Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
• Excellent academic credentials with a demonstrated ability in legal research and writing.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Washington, DC Bar or eligibility to practice in Washington, DC.
