ProfileDallas office of our client seeks electric utility and general premises liability associate attorney with 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation matters, preferably with focus in electric utility law and/or general premises liability. The candidate will work closely with two shareholders on both electric utility cases and general premises liability litigation. The candidate will provide legal work and collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants on civil litigation matters. Will manage a docket of litigation files, which may include drafting motions, pleadings, memoranda and briefs, discovery demands and responses, conducting legal research, preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, trials, and communicating with courts and opposing parties. Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and legal codes. Manage all phases of discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery, electronic document production, taking and defending depositions. Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, and any other necessary legal documentation. Formulate legal strategy and case management. Appear in court for status, hearings, and trials. Work closely with other attorneys and team members on legal matters. Communicate with clients and provide status reports. Prior work experience in either or both of these areas of law is preferred. Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
