ProfileHousing Law Attorney Duties: Homelessness prevention and eviction defense services with the goal of assisting tenants that are eligible for services. Provide legal advice to tenants, attend mandatory settlement conferences and defend unlawful detainer actions in court or jury trials when appropriate. Manage an individual caseload, maintain regular clinic hours, monthly grant reporting, recruitment and supervision of 1-2 interns or volunteers to assist in meeting the goals of the position, as well as enhance the resources available to the community. Assist with fund development and ensure funding obligations including those included in existing contracts.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Admission to the California Bar. Supervisory experience. Program development experience. San Francisco housing law experience, specifically in eviction defense. Strong commitment to social justice. Ability to guide clients with appropriate referrals if necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Ability to advocate on behalf of immigrants in the media, community forums and other venues. Good public speaking skills. Ability to engage in strategic planning regarding the direction of legal services work.
